in l4d2 i keep trying to get the achivement still somthing to prove every time i try to beat the campain it doesnt count toward the achivement. am i not suppose to be on idle too long or am i suppose to start the campain over completley to get it tou count toward the achivment?

I just got a new mikuni carb?

got it put on with some tweaking, to my 97 sportster. the manual while helpful did not answer some questions of mine. the overflow tube on the bottom of the carb, does it go anywhere, i don't think so but i want to make sure. if it doesn't go anywhere should i trim it? cause it is wicked long. the idle adjust also just hangs there, is that cool? the choke cable wasn't exactly cooperative, ordered a mikuni one, in the meantime as long as its push all the way in will i have problems keeping the bike going? appreciate the help, the learning process is making me feel incredibly uncool. thanks again.

i have a 1998 dodge avenger es and i am having such a hard time with it. bought it back in march? and have been driving it daily. the problem started back about 2 weeks ago. my car turns on everything starts up. but the rpm's go to 1.5 about and then it drops and shuts off leaving the oil symbol on. i usually have to turn it over about.... 3 times each time and then after going it stalls out and have to do it again. now though it wont idle at all. tried fuel injector cleaner and got the fuel filter replaced. i cant make it idle after feathering it now. i've been told it's in desperate need of a tune up as well as possibly a vaccum leak. please anybody help im stuck and need it running properly again!!! it has 150+ miles on it and my idle only stays at like .6 rpm's again it runs but when i slow down it stalls out and the oil light comes on. please anyone!!! i need to know what i need to fix!!

Our 5 yr old Eclectus is biting her leg. Vet can't find a reason.HELP?

For about a year our Eclectus is biting her leg. To a point of bleeding. We have tried just about everything to get her to stop, but once it's almost healed, she starts again. The vet has wrapped the leg, she's been wearing the neck ring of shame. Antibiotics & pain cream.Moved the cage, changed the toys. Blood work and biopsy came back negative for everything the vet was looking for. This is costing a small fortune, but we love Zoe and don't want to get rid of her. Has anyone else had a similar problem? We are desperate!!!

New alternator and battery idle is low and battery light keeps coming on 2003 windstar.?

Replaced the alternator and battery recently, followed the procedure to get the computer to relearn it's idle and have driven 100kms. When the rpm gets below 1500rpm the battery light comes on. When sitting at an idle it is only at about 800rpm. Any idea what is going on, or does it just need to be driven more for the computer to relearn it's idle?

1999 Mazda Millenia Fuel Problems?

My car was giving me trouble when i bought it, when i drove it and slowed down to a stop and let it idle it would go dead. It did this for a while and the check engine light started flashing. I got someone to run a computer check on it and said my engine was mis-firing. Looked at everything on my engine and noticed the air intake hose was held together by electrical tape. I replaced it, and cranked it up and it ran fine for a little bit. Drove it down the road into a drive-way and came to a complete stop and it didn't die or idle low or anything, then all of the sudden when i hit the accelerator and the car died. So I tried to crank it and it wouldn't start, it would turn over just fine but nothing else. Took the spark plugs out and they were corroded real bad so i sanded them. Then the car would crank, but it would die if you let off the gas. So i had to get my car pulled home, changed the spark plugs and now it cranks fine, but i'm worried there is something else wrong with it. I would hate to drive it down the road and it all happen again. Any ideas if there could be anything else wrong with it?

I would start with the simple stuff first. Check your fan relay or fuse and make sure the fan comes on when it gets to normal temp. Next, flush the radiator and make sure theres no excessive rust or blockages. Then, check your oil and look for any "milky" oil. That would mean your headgasket is leaking coolant into the oil. You can also check the thermostat or the temperature sending unit. As for the headgasket, I've never heard of that brand of gaskets, I've always went with Felpro and they've never let me down. Yea sounds like you have a few problems if I read that correctly, leave the car running on a flat spot, check the dipstick for tranny fluid should be to the right of the engine bay on your specific car, make sure to pull it out wipe and dip it, has to be at the second dot, it would only be doing that if the fluid is unreasonably low, if its not low and its full of fluid, your gear are probably starting to slip, high rpms while going a decent amount of speed is a sign of tranny failing, so is revving high before it goes, usually it bangs when it kicks in, if everything is banging a lot and making the interior of the car shake obnoxiously it could be the motor mounts, before you do ANY maintenance done and waste your money, get it diagnosed by a trusted friend that knows a lot about cars, when something is wrong with a car and you tell the mechanic to just FIX IT and you say you don't know what it is or much about cars they see jackpot and rip you off, so find someone who won't charge you to diagnose the problem and give you a quote, another good tip if your using a mechanic shop to fix it, tell them you'll buy the parts and bring them in, mechanics buy the cheapest brand, lowest quality part and charge you like they bought the best one, I'm not stereotyping mechanics, because i am one lol and i know all the ripping off that goes on, and honestly if any repair cost over $1000, i'd say scrap it, you get like $400 to junkyard a car depending on how much scrap they get out of it and model/make, because spending $1000 or more on a car that is 15 years old is just a terrible investment, for example, take the $400 and the $1000 that "say" it costs to fix your car, give or take a few hundred bucks and you get a decent reliable high 90s early 2000's 4 cylinder car, just trying to help people out who don't know much about cars, cause everyone gets ripped off these days it sucks, they should make automotive a mandatory class in middle/highschool cause everyone needs to drive and everyones car is gunna break some day, instead of them getting ripped off they'll have knowledge of what wrong atleast, ok i'm done preaching, good luck!

Is my Blazer's Fuel Pump Bad?

It is a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS with the 4.3l v6. We were driving down the road and it quit on us. it is not the alternator because i had that tested. i was told to replace the distributor cap and rotor so i did that. i got it to start and it idles really rough. when you step on the gas the car dies. the fuel pump sounded really labored when it would prime the system. then the fuel pump stopped working and it would not start. 3 days later the fuel pump did kick on but sounded labored and again rough idle and would die when stepping on the gas. then the pump stopped working again. is this the sign of a bad fuel pump?

Why would there be gasoline in the intake of my 3100sfi lumina 1998?

Ok.. Basicaly it sounds like the gas which should be vaporised is pooling in the intake. Its likely getting in because its not getting burned. I have seen this with both fuel and oil. The smog equipment on the car recirculates a percentage of exhause and crankcase vapors. Unless those misfires are caused by a bad spark plug or wire this will not be a cheap fix.

This may sound dumb but clean your throttle body. If that doesn't work then have your car computer checked. If that still doesn't work then take it to a certified ford repair shop. It sound electrical to me but without hearing the car or seeing what it does I can't be 100% sure.

1994 pontiac grand prix gtp 3.4 v6 idle problems?

I've noticed when I just barley touch the gas my idle goes up from 800 rpm's to 11 or 1200 rpm's and stayes there for about 3-4 seconds then goes back down. I decided to check if it was a vacuum leak, I heard a hissing sound between the power steering pump and the intake manifold, I sprayed throttle body cleaner to see if the idle would drop and it seemed like it did. so I replaced the intake manifold gaskets and some hoses. I figured I fixed the problem and started the car. I didn't fix the problem... I just cant figure out the problem. I don't see any hoses by where the hissing is coming from. I seems like the noise is the power steering pump pulley but its sounds like the hissing is right behind it.. can the idle problem be something else..

2002 Dodge Caravan Sputtering?

I had a problem like this on a 2000 Grand Caravan. It turned out to be the spark plug wires. Tried an aftermarket set and it didn't work. Had to get a set from the Dealer. That solved the issue and the price at the dealer was less than the aftermarket wires. Go figure.

I have a 1991 subaru legacy which dies our after i start it?

the computer tell me that its the surge selenoid from the gas tank so I put it direct and it worked fine for five minutes and then it started dying out on me again. when the engine is in low idle it will stop but if I press the gas pedal to the bottom it will reb up to 5000 rpm without a miss if I keep it between 3000 and 5000 rpms it will run without a miss otherwise the engine stops. But sometimes I start it and it will run without any misses and after a will it will start missing and the engine stops. This car has a plug in the cumputer for checking the engine codes. When I connect the plug and turn the key to on position the cooling fan on the radiator starts to go on and off, and the relays will start to click on and off, also the gas pump will turn on and off. It's as if I was tuning the key to the on and off position over and over again. I did test the purge selenoid by connecting a test lamp to the battery and no current goes thru it.. my next step is to bring a computer and plug it to the car ecm to see if it will give me another code. anybody got any ideas as to what it could be.

Why does my 60 hp lose power when accelerate to full power?

I hav a 17' 60 hp boat and wen im in te water and push it to full throttle it loses power and sounds like its going to shut off and sometime it does and sometimes it sounds like it and when i bring it back down to idle speed it stays on but huffs and puffs changed gas line,gas filter, and spark plug which they had a car spark plug in it need an answer to y when i push it to full throttle it wanna shut off and goes like 2 miles an hour when on full throttle.

Mass airflow sensor, or map, not sure what you have, but betting heavy on MAS.Might wanna check some grounds out if you are only getting 2 volts for a reference signal, never gonna run right like that.

ok i have a 1998 eclipse gst, 2.0L DOHC turbo. its a 4g63, anyways when it idles the rpms just go up and down drives me nuts, its died a couple times. also when i try to maintain a speed limit seems like 40 mph or less its just bogs out and it shakes so what i do when it starts to do this is accelerate quickly or let off the gas. i have heard fuel filter, cats, distributor, ecm, spark plugs, wires etc please help mitubishi techs!!!! lol

What is the purpose of Adjusting the idle screw on the carb?

Im just curious.Does it actually affect the performance of the engine? Does the idle knob have to be set in the correct position for the engine to perform correctly? If its raining pretty good then it could be watter intrusion again in distributor..? the other end of the plug wire (opposite the spark plug) dry it out with a rag, let air dry. With car off - puts hands on, feel, tug, push, something loose or burnt through. if it just started like that with no warning you should be able to almost see it. Unless water got in. Its in the "spark" parts of the car, follow the plug wires.

1981 VW vanagon turns over but gives no effort to start. whats the problem?

Ive been working on this vanagon for about 3 months now. When i parked it, it was running nicely. it started right up after approximately 4 revolutions of the motor. idled fine. its been 2 months since i started it up and when i turned the motor over it will not even attempt to run. Why does my car die as soon as i put it into gear?

I have a 91' Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra and it'll start fine and idle fine in park and neutral, but as soon as i put it into reverse or drive it dies. It is has an automatic transmission. It's fuel injected. It has a V6 engine. It was running fine yesterday but today i drove around for about 20 mins. and when i came to park it, it died just as i pulled in and while i was driving whenever i took my foot off the accellerator it would start to sputter/shake a little bit and would sound like it was about to die and then as soon as i pressed the accelerator again it would be fine. so i started my car back up so i could park properly and then as soon as i put it into gear it died again. I tried to let it sit in park for a couple minutes and it was idling fine but when i put it in gear it died, i also tried reverse and it died as soon as i put it in gear there too. 2003 GTI 1.8 burning oil?

I have a 2003 Volkswagen GTI 1.8t manual 5spd w/silverline exhaust and ABD intake. When it's idling I can smell the oil burning but don't see smoke. Smell goes away when driving but if i stop and just idle the engine for awhile it starts to blow blue smoke out the exhaust but it goes away again after driving.. Thought it was because of the valve cover gasket that was leaking but after replacing it there's no difference. Could it be from oil on the engine from when the VC gasket was leaking? It could also be from the turbo because I've noticed when boosting (mainly in first gear) it looses power and jerks a little at about 2500rpms that I attributed to a leak in a vacuum hose (I can hear it leak when the turbo starts to spool) but starting to think the turbo might be starting to go bad. Any ideas on what could be making it burn oil like this???

When I push the throttle down to fast on the Evinrude, It dies?

Its a 1980 70HP Evinrude, Compression is Good, Carbs were clean last season but I did not run all the gas out of the tank before winter and it sat in there. Whenever I get on the water everything starts fine and idles fine but it takes forever for it to go fast. I have to slowly push the throttle forward and let it sit at a certain position for a good 2 minutes or more than when I hear the engine roar a little bit, I know that you can push the throttle in full so you can go fast. Otherwise If i do not do this, and just push the throttle up fast it dies every single time. I checked the gas line going to the motor and it was clean, nothing seems to be clogged up.

98 Jeep Cherokee Sport inline 6 cylinder low rpm misfire?

My 98 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 misfires on cylinders 3 and 4 if im going under 1500 rpm. I have change the plugs and wires. Ignition coil is ok compression was checked. I checked the fuel injectors and swapped them around with 2 that i knew where working. Check distributor cap and rotor button. Also pulled of the valve cover and checked them everything is in working order but i am still idling rough and is bucks when going uphill. Codes were originally P0303 P0301 P0304 and a random/mutiple cylinder misfire code. Can anyone help I am out of answers... lol

My car starts but won't stay running even when i press on the accelerator. please help?!?!?

okay, so i have a 1965 mustang coupe with a straight six engine(200 cubic inches) and it uses a one barrel holley carburetor. the problem is that the car starts, but wont continue running. i've replaced the fuel pump and its filter, but it still wont idle. also, when i press on the accelerator, the car cuts out almost immediately. i have no idea what's wrong. does any one have any suggestions for me?

first check to see if the distirbutor is timed with the rest off the motor then check to make sure your distributor advance is hooked up i had this same problem but i fixed mine by messing with the idler adjustment which should be on the throttle cable near the carb or throttle body.

This car probably has a 4.9L or 5.0L engine. You might want to check the vacuum lines. Also the motor might shake at idle if in need of a tune up. Like spark plugs and wires might help. Also do you have Brake pedal pressure? Or do you have pedal fade or pedal slowly dropping to the floor. If so you might have a leaking brake cylinder or bad master cylinder. If it has allot of mileage then this could be age but really need more Information to know for sure.

okay so it all started when i was testing and disconnected spark plug caple from the coil while the car was running and at that moment it reved up to 4000 rpm and stayed there until you would tap the gas pedal then it went down and started hunting!, and this happens now every time when the car is turned on it revs on 4000 or something until you tap the pedal. and also if you disconnect the vacuum hose from the map sensor it stopps hunting but idle stays at like 1500rpm, and as soon as you connect the hose to the sensor again it starts hunting again(It is not the map sensor! i have tried changing it with no change!) it cant be that the car is taking false air cause it started when the wire was disconnected from the coil. so i was thinging maby somethinghappenedd to thestepper motorr when the wire wasdisconnectedd from the coil and damaged the stepper motor is that apossibilityy? what do you think

Hear me out here: Turn your screen saver back on, and then hit apply. It should show a new checkbox that says "On resume, show logon screen." Uncheck it and click apply. Then turn off the screen saver again. Also go back into power options and click on "Advanced Options" and find the option "change require password on wakeup" to no. This should do the trick. If not, try doing Windows Updates, it may be a glitch that can get fixed with a few updates. :)

Bought 96 Nissan Maxima last month- tonight white smoke from the hood, what could it be?

When I bought the car the digital clock didn't work but everything else was good. Then a few days after I bought it the check engine light came on. I checked the oil but it looked good so kept driving it withno problems but noticed in stop and go traffic it idles rough. then a few days ago the GPS stopped getting a charge from the cigarette lighter and tonight, in stop and go traffic noticed a smell coming from the AC and then saw the white smoke coming from under the hood. But the temp gauge didn't move it was just down all the way so maybe it is broken too, so i don't know if it was overheated or not. The engine never shut off and I shut it off and turned it back on a bunch of times with no problems. I am afraid to take it to a mechanic because I am a girl and new to the area and don't want to get taken advantage of. What could this be and what can I expect to pay for it? Also, can I drive it to someone to fix or should I have it towed?

Tips for searching African American geneology?

I'm trying to research my family history, I'm using ancestry.com but I keep running into issues with my family history past 1829. My family is a mixture of Black, Native American and White. From what I've been told my father's family has Irish or Welsh roots but most records for African-Americans in those days just said ***** or maybe mulatto, also, you had the problem of the whole child is considered the race of their mother that was an issue during slavery. Why is my GPU suddenly running so hot?

I have an XFX Nvidia 8600 GTS that I bought overclocked at 730. A few months ago I had been playing TF2 with no problems. I didn't touch my comp for over 4 months and noticed this would happen. The game would randomly crash and sometimes my screen would become pixelated until I made a hard reboot. I ran some temp. tests and it is now idling at 73C and runs at 81-83C while playing TF2. I haven't made any graphical change to the game, changed comp cases, haven't moved my pc's location, and never reapplied thermal compound I was wondering if anyone has any idea what could be wrong? Would reapplying thermal paste cool my gpu? Do I need a new GPU?

75c is a bit high... 50 - 60c is average. id either invest in a bigger fan or use a can of air and try to clean it. You can also take it to a local shop and have them open it, and apply some thermal grease to the cpu. One of your system fans may not be working. Look on the net for a "fan temp monitor" program. A lot of these will report issues back, or allow you to control the fan speed manually.

2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 engine chirping/squeaking?

You can hear it at idling but after driving it down the road and back i couldn't hear it. The belt is brand new. Only while driving it or pressing on the accelerator the noise got louder and faster. I am also leaking power steering fluid...could this have anything to do with it? Thanks

Whats wrong with my nitro rustler 2.5?

About a month ago i bought a Nitro Rustler 2.5. The first day i had it it worked excellent. I took my time and broke it in properly as stated in the book and thought all was well. I did everything as needed. I cleaned the air filter ect. Now when i go to use the truck it works great for about 5 minutes then it will bog down and the Idle will get high and low and then eventually die. What could be my problem? The engine still has excellent compression and ive been cleaning it it WD40 as per the instructions in the book.

Check Charging System?

I recently installed some halo headlights into my 2010 mustang. I read a few forums before purchasing them, and noticed a couple of people said that the check charging system light came on and that you were supposed to unplug the negative on the battery before installation. I installed the lights fine, but now the check charging system light is coming on. My battery is putting out about 13.5 volts and around 80 amps at idle... I have a brand new 50cc mc_jm50 scooter. And I already have some problems that I can't seem to figure out. First off when I start the scooter and hit the gas and let it go it will die. i have a 94 full size chevy blazer with a v-8. the battery started losing voltage a couple days ago so i put a charger on it and it lasted two days. a couple hours ago, i drove it down the street and on the way back after ten minutes of driving it started acting funny at the stoplight and almost died. i made it home and sitting in the driveway at idle, the speedometer started bouncing between 50 & 60 mph. now it won't start. bad battery? bad alternator? sounds like a short somewhere. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Dirtbike shuts off when revved.?

I have a Yamaha 450f and after a year of sitting in the shed I changed out the jets, throttle tube and tire tubes. It starts perfectly and idles ok. But when revved maybe a quarter of the way it starts to lose rpm's and shuts off. And it makes a weird noise like a slight whistle or cricket type of noise. I thought it was the old gas in the tank so I put new premium gas and sea foam as well. I tried playing around with the carburetor but i can't get play nice. Question on old toyota camry alternator?

I have an 88camry. the alternator recently pooped on me. as it was going, when I would put in in gear, or turn on the AC, the engine would slow down to such a slow idle it would almost die, then it did die. they told me that this is because it was drawing on the alternator and the alternator just didn't have enough oomph to keep the car going. so I got a new alternator. first few weeks it ran great, but now,whenever I put it in gear, it runs very , very slowly,the RPM's are like 300, barely enough to keep it running. and this is without the AC on. it acts like it's about to die at any second, just like it did before replacing the alternator. but you would think that the mechanic would have tested the entire system to see if it was something else. also it has had a recent tune up with new plugs and wires and rotor, etc. it's a fuel injected car. can anything else be going on here? the car does have 235,000 miles on it and usually runs so quiet it's like an electric car, it just purrs, but now it acts like it want's to die again when you put it in gear, and it did actually die once while in gear. the RPMS are sooo low, just barely enough to keep it running while in gear.

Why wont my car idle right?

i have a 93 240sx. yesterday it wouldnt start, but i adjusted the tps to very close to fsm standards, its only .08 ohms off. now it starts but i have to push the gas a couple times to get it to idle. and it smells like gas.

I suggest since that fuel filter hasn't more then likely been changed in awhile try changing it and testing the fuel pressure at the pump and the fuel rail.What could be happening is the fuel filter is dried up inside and at idle there isn't enough fuel pressure to keep it idling and when driving it at higher speeds it runs okay.

There is a squealing in my car?

I have a 97 ford Taurus, we had a squealing in my car, we thought it was the belts, but they are new. we change the alternator, the squealing stopped for a day. came back again, we thought it might be the pulleys and changed those, still no change. the squealing is constant from the moment we start the engine, when we idle the noise grows quite, when we speed up it becomes intense. when we turn it changes pitch. I have no idea what is wrong with it, we do have air conditioning, and the water pump does need replacing but it does not have a leak its just old.

Cpu Fan Temp + Rpm, Maybe a Problem?

I have just finished my first custom gaming build and i am unsure that my temps are 'ok' standard, i have 5 case fans and a cpu fan but my bios says that the cpu temp is 48c which after a quick search of the net showing i should have around 30c idle :/ my fans are showing that the speed is 1130rpm which seems to be low looking at other peoples i'm not sure how to change this so that i can get higher speeds, also the other fans are on 1600-1700rpm, my mobo temp is at 20-23c which i think is fairly ok, just the cpu. should i consider buying buying a new one? btw its not stock its a 'arctic cooler freezer 7 pro'

How do I make my 25HP 1988 Johnson outboard motor run smooth in mid range?

My motor starts great, idles just fine, trolling speed, no problem, wide open runs great but when I hit the throttle is stammers a bit ( 2 or 3 seconds or more ) before it smooths out and takes off. I have changed plugs, gapped them at 30 thousand and have the factory recommended plugs in it. Also tried a tank of fresh high octane gas ( no ethanol in it ) and mixed oil carefully at 50 to 1. I stored my boat last year and drained it for the winter with no ethanol and Sea foam stabilizer was ran through it before running it dry and storing it. I have check tanks for any junk and there super clean. I can't think it would be dirt as it will run good top speed for long periods without a miss. Just at take off when I hit it. That is about all I can tell you and hope someone has a good answer. Thanks

Why is my motorcycle making that noise?

I have a 1981 yamaha 1100 xs. This morning i was riding it to work and and it was fine. Halfway through my ride, i was on the freeway and my bike starts losing power. I manage to make it to work which is just off the freeway and when i stop, my bike is idling just under 1k rpms and it dies. After work the same exact thing happens except that i made it home. when it started to lose power it sounded almost like a lawnmower engine. I had to really get on the throttle to keep it going. It kinda felt like it was shaking a little bit. which i'm sure isn't normal. i put it in the 2nd choke setting and it seemed okay to get me home. I'm not a motorcycle mechanic obviously so if anyone has had this problem and has the solution would be a great help. thanks in advance

i have a hp 3046TX laptop. my config is 2.66Ghz i5 M430 processor, 4 GB ram, 1 GB ATI graphics card etc etc.. my problem is that i think my core temperatures are running too high. i had downloaded speedfan and also real temp and my idle core temps are 35 to 40*C . i had done a prime95 torture large FFT's test and at 100 % CPU usage my temp is showing 95 to 99*C on my ATI GPU and 85 to 95*C on my intel GPU. my vents are cleaned as hell and my fans are also working. im in a doubt that is it just me or is my CPU over heating? please let me know if anyone else is also getting this type of reading. and ya i run my laptop on the table and in a A/C environment. please help and clear my doubts. thanks

Johnson outboard timing adjustment?

I have been searching the internet for instructions on making timing adjustments and every posting says something completely different. Some say you must buy some Special spark sensor thing that lights up markings on the fly wheel. Some say you must buy some kind of Special caliper that screws into the sparkplug hole. and others say just twist the idle adjust screw. My question is do you use the idle adjust screw and if you do why dose it mader where the markings on the fly wheels are. And what specal Secret classified information is in the shop manual that i must know. And what is all this stuff people say like "set it to 4 degrees". If there is no lodgical answer for any of these questions can someone just explane the flywheel markings and how to adjust. and are there any special tools i need?

If i unplug the mass air flow sensor it runs smooth but rpm's high, so does this mean the mass air flow sensor is bad?

ok so i was running my motor yesterday to check my water pump which i now know is junk and needs replacement. However as i ran it at idle i head a pop noise almost, and later on checked the engine and saw that a line going from the top, through the middle and bottom carbs and then goes to the back of the motor where it plugs into a gold nut near the spark plugs. the piece that broke was a plastic looking piece that is connected to the hose from the carbs, and when it broke i found a spring and a plastic piece that goes inside of the spring. The plastic piece that held the spring ect, snapped where it connects to the gold nut. If anyone knows what this might be please help! ive done a little research and all i can think is possibly a vacuum valve or a retainer of some sort?

My 99 chrystler sebring battery dies almost everytime I shut the car off. I have to have a battery charger in my car. Sometimes the car starts right away but lately it needs the battery charger its driving me nuts! How do I fix an idle problem with an 89 Firebird 305 v8 TBI?

I have a 1989 Firebird 305 V8 with throttle body injection. When i start the car it idles very low for about a second, then the service engine light comes on and it idles really high; around 2000 or 1500rpm. Also when it is in drive with the light on it sometimes will die while stopped. What is causing this and how do I fix it? I have replaced the idle air control and throttle position sensor.

90 Celica idling high...what's the cause?

I've got a 1990 Celica GT with the 5SFE 2.2L 5-speed engine. Ever since I've had the car, it idles all the time from the lowest of 1500rpm to the highest of 2000rpm. The lowest I've ever seen it idle is 1000rpm and that was for 3 seconds. It does that sometimes. It's like the rpm's just dip down to 1000 for a quick couple seconds then they rise right back up to 1500-2000. I've done some basic troubleshooting such as spraying carb/brake cleaner around possible leaking points like the intake manifold, injectors, vacuum hoses and lines, and valve cover. But spraying those points does not seem to make the engine's rpms change. I'm pretty puzzled as to what could be causing this issue. And since this is an OBD0 car, I don't have a scanner that will work with it. Also, this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but I can tap the gas pedal real quick and the idles come down to around 1500-1600. Doesn't always work though. I've checked the idle screw on the throttle body as well and it's screwed all the way in. If I back it out at all, it makes the engine idle even higher. Any thoughts or suggestions from anyone?
