"December 19, 2006, the day the message boards died"?!? Can someone explain this?

The date refers to the day that yahoo! closed-down their old Message Boards, which was sort of like an open forum. There was a LOT of spam and junk posted there. The sample questions are extremely funny, because they are accurate!
